USB wireless adapter performance on USB 1

I am reinstalling windows on an old laptop which only has usb 1. Will a usb wireless adapter work on this port, and will it work just as fast as usb 2. Thanks for your input.
 
It will most likely work as most, if not all, USB 2.0 is compatible with 1. But, no, it will not work at USB 2.0 speeds.
 
There shouldn't be too big of a difference, unless you have really fast internet. USB 1.0 hasa maximum speed of 12mbps, which is faster than most DSL internet and some cable internet.
 
The biggest difference that you may notice is a difference in the quality and consistency in the connection. USB network adapters haven't really been the best option, and especially the USB 1.1 ports/adapters really suffer in performance.
