how to know a usb is detect 1.1 or 2.0?

Look in Device Manger under USB, if you have 2.0 there should be listed-USB 2.0 Root Hub and one called Enhanced Host Controller

Never had that happen? Mine just runs at 1.1 speed, now if I plug a 2.0 in a 1.1 USB I get a no 2.0 USB found!

If you have Windows XP, then if your using a USB 2.0 device in a USB 1.1 plug, then it will give you a message saying "A hi-speed USB device is connected to a non hi-speed port".
