User Account Control in Windows 7

Hi there,
I have only recently reinstalled Windows and installed all the relevant drivers for hardware and software alike. The only thing I am now stuck on is that I am now getting stopped from installing applications, asking me whether to proceed or not. I have also found that most of my shortcut icons have the blue and yellow shield icon. I remember when I first got my notebook when I was ridding it of everything it did not need to run so I can let it run as smoothly as possible and I was also able to somehow get rid of the icon and make my account a full administrator.

I have activated that 'hidden' Administrator account to tweak certain preferences and make installations without Windows butting in and asking questions. When I try to change my account type to Administrator, the "Change Account Type" button is faded.

Any insight would be appreciated, thanks :)

Yeah just turn off UAC its easy enough to do in Windows 7 unlike Windows Vista (earlier versions at least) which was a true pain to do anything on at first release.

Unfortunately I don't have an option whether to turn it on or off entirely. Instead, there is a slider which I have switched to the bottom which is "Never Notify". It's even the same on the Administrator account. Weird how Windows thinks my account isn't an admin one when it is. The ability to change it from Standard to Administrator is still greyed out.

Thanks.
