I hope the title makes sense. Home Network is a wireless router connected to a DSL modem. ALL my pc's have Windows XP. My dad's laptop from work connects wirelessly to it fine (most of the time) sometimes the "Signal Strength" says 'low, otherwise it's usually between good-very good. Anyways, the issue i'm having is mapping a drive or connecting to via UNC (i.e \\computername). The Logon window pops up, but under 'User name' it shows '\\computername\Guest', but i can't change it to another user, because it's greyed out. " File and Printer Sharing" is checked on ALL pc's in Windows Firewall.....
Now, here comes the weird part about my dad's laptop, somehow when it boots up it stops at the Welcome screen, BUT only 1 user account is on it! How is that possible?!? I thought you had to have 2 or more user accounts for XP to halt at the Welcome Screen. Next, the name of his profiles folder in C:\Documents and Settings is NOT the same as his user account. How can that be?? Why would anyone do that
I'm guessing the abovementioned points is causing the problem, true? Is there any way i can just connect to it withOUT changing the profiles folder's name??? Some help would be great.
