Hello all,
I've baught a laptop from my friend, it has a windows XP home edition, all is fine, but when I go to C:\documents and settings\Joe
the user Joe still is there , I want to replace it with my username without creating a new user,
any suggestion
Thanks

That's a quick one there.
Follow these steps to rename the Administrator account in Windows XP Home:
  1. Press [Windows]R to access the Run dialog box.
  2. In the Open text box, type Control userpasswords2 and click OK to access the User Accounts dialog box.
  3. Select the Administrator Account from the list and click the Properties button.
  4. In the User Name text box, type a new name, and click OK.
Give it try!

I've done that before, but for example, when I go to command prompt, I've still see C:\.....\Joe
but on the start menu , it appears Houssam (my username)

You could try the other method used for the Pro version.
  1. Go to Control Panel and open Administrative Tools. Double-click the Local Security Policy.
  2. When the Local Security Settings snap-in appears, open the Local Policies\Security Options branch and double-click the Accounts: Rename Administrator Account policy.
  3. When the Accounts: Rename Administrator Account Properties dialog box appears, type a new name in the text box, and click OK.
One alternate method is to open the command prompt after choosing the "run as administrator" option in the right clcik menu. At the command prompt enter: SET NAME "New Administraor Name" and press the enter key to see that makes the change at the prompt.
