Well, i just go off the online chat with HP, and just as i suspected, they tried to dumb down their answers to the point that they were just lying. What a surprise! They first told me that 1.3MP was simply a comparison rating and didn't have any physical interpretation. then she went on to say that 640x480 was what 1.3MP meant.
Now im only a Mechanical Engineering Senior, and in my years of calculus and thermodynamics, I picked up a few things. First off, width x height = area.
640 x 480 = approx 300,000 since the MP ratings are rounded anyways
Now this is approx. 1MP short of 1.3MP a 1.3MP image would be 1280x1024.
Now before people start insulting me for thinking that i am going to get an integrated camera that streams 1280x1024 video, I am only expecting this for still pictures, the same way digital cameras are rated. 6MP camera doesn't mean that the little video mode is going to fill up your 1GB card after 300 frames, or 10 seconds, that would be rediculous.
Well, back to the story, after giving her my little mathmatics lesson, she goes on to day that 640x480 is my screen resolution and doesn't affect the video camera. AAHHHH!!!!
There should be 2 tech support lines for any electronic device.
Tech support level 1: this is for all the people who pay Best Buy to install their software for them, those that return printers because they don't work, and when the store asks if they installed the drivers, they just stare blankly.
Tech support level 2: this should be reserved for people who have basic understanding of computers and can change basic settings, and pull up basic windows, such as device manager without someoen giving them step by step directions. These people should be provided with technicians that have actual konledge, instead of someone that is looking through a handbook to find which response matches your question in their big FAQ book. Also, these people would be able to avoid the stupid lies that everyone is told in order to "simplify" the directions, such as all the direction that give computers personalities, or saying, Ooh, your computer must not be feeling good today, try it tomorrow."
Now most people are going to want tech support 2 right away, because noone want to admit they are stupid, therefore, there should be a multiple choice quiz on the phone to determine your correct tech support level. Get a few simple questions correct, such as
Firefox is a __________
1. Burning animal
2. Browser
3. Memory
4. Hardware
Answer a few questions like that, and you could be on your way to respectable tech support in no time.
Thats just my opinion.
