If you can essentially update and have access to it like paid customers, this is a slap in the face. Why would anyone pay for Windows 10 if there is little to no difference.

Because it was a 1 year offer, if you didn't take the offer over the course of those 12 months, why should you still get it for FREE?
So what the heck is the benefit of 64 bit then?
Additional address space > 4 GB

Seeing more than 3.25GB of RAM.....LOL
But might it resolve my problem of Firefox running out of memory and not being able to save the session? I understand that maybe there won't be a performance increase, but would it help with this?

No.
Only 2 things you should be doing are:
1. Leave as is, nothing can be done!
2. Upgrade as we mentioned to a more modern amount of RAM and 64-bit O/S
If you go to 64-bit, your gonna want to go to minimum 8GB

You have two options:
Decrease usage
Increase resources
That only leaves you with one option.
In all honesty it's faster to generate a new tab to the site you want to go back to than having to sort through 100 tabs.
