Using a big screen tv as a monitor

I have a 52inch big scren tv in my basment and i wanted to hook my new computer to it and use it as my monitor. but heres the problem. the tv doesnt have a DVI port, but the Comcast cable box does. so if i hooked my computer up to the cable box via DVI would it work?

dont worry about the pc not being able to handle a big screen its will have dual 8800gtx's.

well, how's the cable box hooked up to the tv?

just a cable connection, but my computer uses a DVI cable. The back of my tv has an HDMI cable. So is there such thing as a cable that has an hdmi end an a DVI end? and would it work?
