Using a laptop wireless card on my desktop

Hey, anyone have any suggestions on what I can buy if I want to use my Proxim 8470-WD card on my desktop? I would rather get a USB adapter than a PCI adapter, I keep my computer in a closet to muffle the noise (run the cables through a hole in the wall) and there is not easy access to the back.

I'm having trouble finding a USB adapter though, anyone know of something?

well there is one way of putting that sort of card in a desktop but its using a PCI adaptor.

its usually best to stay away from USB wireless network adaptors, but if you really want one, you can get them just about anywhere lol

I already know that I can get a PCI adapter for that card, what I want is a USB adapter for that card. I don't want just any old USB wireless adapter, I want something that will let me connect my proxim card to my computer via USB instead of PCI, if possible.

It's not about just needing to connect to the internet, I already have a wireless adapter for my desktop, in fact. I want to be able to use the Proxim card on my desktop purely because of functionality that the Proxim card has. I simply don't want to have to access the back of my PC to use it if I can at all avoid it. If I can't, I can't, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone here knew of any USB-based converters.

I'm sorry but i'm not getting what you're trying to do... I can't see the difference of keeping your current card(if it's possible) and getting another. What functionality are you referring to? I'm sure you could find another card that has the same functionality if it has any special features...
