Buy-it PC

Here's the scenario. I have two physical computers attached to a wireless router, they have two printers, one being USB and the other being Parallel.
They also have a USB Epson scanner, which they would like to share between the two computers.
Could, or would a USB HUB be the solution to this? In other words, could they use a USB 2.0 Hub- attach both PC's to it, and the scanner and would the software on each machine see it and communicate with it? (Even using a Powered USB hub).
I know the printer would be best suited by a print server. Wondering if it would also work on the scanner?
Any ideas?!
