Using msconfig

My girlfriend is having really bad problems with her computer and its really high cpu usage. Its a P3 but she only uses it for msn, typing up school stuff, browsing the internet, and maybe listening to music so upgrading is out of the question.

I'm wondering about the msconfig thing.

Which setting is better: Normal, Diagnostic, or selective startup.

And how should I configure each one?

Just do normal startup, thats fine. Go to the startup tab and deselect all the programs you dont want to start up with the computer.

yea, do "services" and "startup" tabs... but mostly startup
make sure anything unecessary isn't enabled..
if you aren't sure just google the exe file and it should come up with something if it needs disabling.
