Using MSN Account with Outlook 2003

Hola All,

Ultimate Goal - Set up MSN and Gmail accounts to work with Outlook 2003 so that incoming emails from both MSN and GMAIL go to the same inbox in Outlook 2003.

I have done a bunch of reading on the Internet and I think I need a Hotmail Plus\Windows Live Hotmail Plus which costs $19.95 annually if I want to accomplish my goal, right? My gmail account (main) is already set up and working fine.

Alternatively, I found Outlook Connector which allows me to download emails from my MSN account but the emails are stored in a separate personal folder in a separate inbox from my main email account. Is there a way to set up Outlook Connector so that emails from MSN come to the same inbox as my main email? I tried setting up a "rule" to check incoming messages and if they are from my msn account to move them to my main inbox but that did not work.

Thanks, Bill

Okay, I just checked everything again, and actually - it should work if you are using OutlookConnector.
Maybe you didn't set up the rules correctly.

1. Go to your MSN account (let's say your address there is [email protected])
2. Right click on an email that was sent to [email protected] and select "create rule"
3. Click on "advanced" to have more flexibility in setting this up
4. Place a check mark on "sent TO [email protected]" and click next
5. Place a check mark on "move it TO the specified folder"
6. At the bottom of that window, click on "specified folder" and find your main inbox.
7. Click next and complete the rest as you wish.

Make sure that at the end you turn the rule on so it will apply to new messages. If you want to, you can also apply it to existing messages.

I think that should work. In your message you said you set up rules to check messages FROM your MSN account, but I think that's wrong. It needs to check messages TO your MSN account. So that way, any message from anybody sent TO [email protected] will have this rule applied to it.

Do the same with the Gmail account.

Does it work?

EDIT: Hmm, I'm tested it and I'm having problems with it too. If I run the rules manually, the messages get moved from Hotmail inbox to regular inbox. However, when doing a regular send/receive messages, the rule seems to only look at messages arriving directly in my inbox and since the hotmail ones first arrive in the hotmail inbox, the rule is not "seeing" them.

By the way, anyone who wants to download OutlookConnector can do so here from Microsoft.

I use Windows Live Mail to get my email from:

GMail
Hotmail
Comcast
My personal sites

It's free, and works great.. similar functionality as Outlook 2007, ehich I also have - but don't use.
