Using PCIe 3.0 on PCIe 2.0 motherboard

Hi, I was looking at graphics card "SAPPHIRE NITRO R9 380 4G" which says is a PCIe 3.0, my mother board has 2 PCIe 2.0 x16 so was wondering if it would work in my 2.0 slot and if it did will that produce any undesirable results?

Thanks a lot.

Pcie is backwards compatible, so it should work. What are the other specs of your system?

A 16x 2.0 slot still has plenty enough bandwidth so you shouldn't really notice any performance deviations.

It will work fine. As Beers asked, if you provide us with the rest of your system specs we can make sure there aren't any others areas that need improvement first. Don't forget to include your power supply.

Hi, thanks. I'm mostly concerned about performance drop. Here are my current specs:

CPU: Intel i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz
RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) I am going to get Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3 x 4 GB) more for a total of 18 GB (any insight about this also would be appreciated)
Hard disk space: 2 TB
Motherboard: ASUS P6T (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T/#specifications)
Power supply: Cooler Master G750M

Thanks a lot.
