Using Riva Tuner

I just got an 8800GTS G92 and I am trying to adjust the fan setting because everyone says it doesn't do a good job of it cooling on heavy load.

But I can't seem to figure out how the hell do change the stupid thing! I see a few things for nVidia fan and all that but when I click it, there's nothing to change?! Can someone help me out please?

It's running at 56C at idle right now. Gotta fix that a bit

and 56*C is pretty cool. i cant get my 8800GT down to that low. just make sure it doesnt get over... say 80.and you'll be fine.

I brought the speed to 60% and it instantly dropped my temps by like 12-15 degrees!

Will cause any harm to my graphics card or fan?

Running it at 100%+ all the time might wear the fan out faster. But frankly, by the time the fan wears out under moderate usage, you'll probly want a new card anyway.

Auto holds my card @ 50c. 65% isn't audible and gives me 42-44c idle depending on room temp with 790/1910/1090 clocks.

39C idle but not nearly the clock speeds you have. 685/1711/1000.

Did you notice a different in performance doing all that overclocking?

Did you just increase speeds? Or do you have to raise voltages like overclocking ram/processor?

I definitely noticed a performance gain over the stock clocks of 650/1625/970. 3DMark06 score increased by 1000 or so.

Just increased the speeds. If I go 800/1925/1100, I get crashes but it's perfectly fine here.

Whats your 3dmark06 score?

I just scored a 10,800 and my speeds were 700/1711/1000.

Very easy? I don't know, it only takes a few seconds with RivaTuner. You don't have to mess with BIOS. Finding the limit could be more difficult though.

14913 with my E8400 @ 3.85GHz, 5-5-5-15 ram timings, and those clocks I posted. I'm also running XP which uses less resources. If I was running Vista, my score would be around 14200-14300. Was 15137 @ 4.0GHz with 4-4-4-12 ram timings which I posted in the 3DMark06 thread.

You guys got me testing my OC again. Seems my crash was coming from going too high with the shader clock. My core/memory appears to run fine at 810/1110 under heavy load without crossing 60c.

I'm chillin at 705/1005. Idling at 39C. You're crazy for overclocking like that. I'd be scared as hell to fry my GPU!

I'm still in warranty long as I don't volt mod. Highest temp I got while playing Crysis for over a hour was 56c using RivaTuner hardware monitor fan settings. 65% @ 40-45c, 70% @ 46-50c, 80% @ 51-55c, 90% @ 56-60c, 100% @ 60c+. I occasionally heard the fan catch the 90% setting for a split second.
