Using system memory as video memory...

From what I've heard, a motherboard with an IGP will not have graphics memory per se, but will instead use system memory as graphics memory (please set me straight if this is inaccurate or too generalized). I'd like to know if the amount of system memory that is dedicated to the GPU can be adjusted, and if so, how. I use Windows XP, and if this particular issue differs between the home and professional editions, details for both would be good. If it's a BIOS thing, then I guess the answer depends on the particular BIOS that comes with the motherboard... I've never actually used a desktop motherboard with an IGP...

its adjustable in vista i think, but in xp its fixed, usually 8-128mb

no difference between the pro and home versions

What you heard is right. Onboard uses the system memory. You change the amount it uses in the bios.
