Using two PSU,s in one case

I have a couple ideas of using two power supplies in one computer case.
The question is has any one tried this and has it worked ok for them, BTW the two power supplies must switch on and off together.
One power supply is for the motherboard and the other for accessories.

I do not need comments on how dangerous this is as I am an electrician, but comments on your results if you have tried it.

When I finish my test computer I will post results on this subject
Thank you.

Look for one of these not really sure why you need two. Much less hassle to simply buy a high quality psu than two sub par power supplies.

That was one idea I had and the reason of doing is this project is put to use of good quality surplus PSU's instead of wasting money buying another.
I have got a few good size tower cases that have plenty of room to accommodate an extra psu.

What PSU's, and what type of specs are you looking to power.

Personally I fully understand it....I had a 500w and a 450w that could have easily powered my current rig so I didn't need to spend $80 extra for the 750w I bought. A lot of "full size" atx cases have 2 PSU slots for just this reason.

Have now hooked up two PSU's in the case and wired up the primary PSU to switch on the secondary PSU.
The test computer has not experienced any problems what so ever and if any thing the PSU's run cooler which I expected should have due to sharing the power loads.
All voltages tested are in the correct voltage range
No noticeable extra noise as the PSU's fans have thermal sensors and run slower.

Overall quite happy with the results.
Next step will try another way to connect together and will eventually start to add more hardware to load them up a bit.

Well good to hear it worked out. Thanks for updating us on how it went. I think next upgrade I will spend some more $$$ and buy a case such as that for future upgrades as lets face it that is the future at the rate computers are going.
