Using Windows disk on other machines

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate CD that I used to install on my main machine. I would like to install Windows 7 Home Basic on a laptop in my home. Can I use that CD with a key that'll buy to install Home Basic on that machine?

No because the version on the disc is ultimate, It can not install home version.

Actually you can edit a file on the disc to make it a universal installer for all versions of Windows 7 (of that bit type).

Ultimate should have all versions on there.

But i would just download the version you want from digital river.
