Vaio FJ Series eating battery!?

My friend has a Vaio FJ series notebook. She will charge the battery, or run the notebook from the AC adapter, then turn off the computer. When she turns it back on the battery has depleted... After a few days of being off it will be at 1%. I don't think that this is normal. What could be the problem? A faulty battery? And yes I am sure (at least by sight and sound) that the computer is off when it is off.

Any idears?

Thanks

Are you sure that the computer isn't in hibernation? I think that still depletes batteries (I don't use lappies very much)
Also the FJ series is pretty power-consuming, I saw that it only lasts 2.5 hours on one that i was looking at, and that time is usually overexagerated (<-don't think thats spelled write xD)
So it could be a compination of a bad battery and taht they system is high in power consumtion

even in hibernation the battery should last many weeks. maybe if it is in standby mode. but it sounds like a faulty battery. make sure she shuts down the computer properly and then see if the problem persists

okay then, it seems as though something is wrong with the battery. if the system is still under some kind of warranty, then i would advise you send it back. if not, then maybe look into buying a new battery
