Hi all
I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB4E4E. Just re installed windows and now I have no sound output through headphone jack. Installed the Realtek HD Audio driver from the sony website. Pretty sure this is not a hardware issue. Any help would be appreciated

Windows 7, right?

Ok, try clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar and then Mixer, then on the left, see if there's a menu where you can switch outputs.

Yes Windows 7. Heres a screenshot. Nothing changes when I plug in headphones.

Well it was the driver off the Sony support website for my laptop model. How can I check what kind of sound card I have?
EDIT: also if I plug speakers in the music stops being played through laptop speakers but nothing comes through headphones. Tried other headphones and still same issue

Well if it was for the right model it should work. You didn't answer my question about if you rebooted after installing the driver btw.

Sorry yes many times. Have tried un installing and re-doing it a few times and also tried older drivers but unless I know what kind of sound card I have not sure if I'm downloading the correct older driver. Maybe it is a hardware issue. Is there a way to output sound through mic jack? Seen a post further up where someone could reconfigure what each jack does through regedit??
