Hi, I have the above netbook and for some reason it won't connect wirelessly to the internet, in my seat there are no bars, when I put the netbook directly next to the router, it gets between 2-3 bars, eventually I managed to get it to connect that way, but I sat back in my seat no more than a couple of meters away, and the connection went, I have another laptop which works fine wirelessly on the same seat, however, my stepdaughters 3ds seems to have the same problem, she has to sit next to the router for it to work, anyone have any idea's before I launch the netbook through the t.v, thanks

Either 1 of 2 things.

1. Bad wireless card or driver - try updating the driver for it.
2. Issue with router - try updating the firmware or try a different router

Thanks for the reply, I have been trying to find a new driver, windows update doesn't seem to think the one it finds is necessary, so I had a look for one, it's a Railink one, so I looked for that and I came across this http://www.ralinktech.com/en/ it says the Railink website has been merged with Mediatek, I can't seem to find my driver here, could this have anything to do with my driver issue? as for the router, it's a sky router, I can't seem to find a way to update firmware, I did find a sky forum with someone asking about the firmware to which the replied the update the firmware when the decide it's necessary and there is no option to do so, also I forgot to mention, before I used it's hard drive on another laptop it worked fine, it's been in the cupboard of doom for a while until I could afford a new hard drive and put the vaio hard drive back in

Explain this again please. Does this mean you have some other computers hard drive in it now that had windows already installed on it? You can't do that as you will run into issues. Reinstall a fresh copy of windows on a new hard drive and it should work.

Had that problem, try connecting VIA the program Connectify. It allows you to have a better experience with wireless networks , i use it all the time because i cant see the networks i make directly through my pc on my other pc, and cant even connect to some either. cheers

Wolfeyyy - Are you sure about that? Connectify is software that turns a laptop into a router that allows the laptop to share it's internet connection via wifi. It isn't used to make the connection, it's used to share an already established connection.

No sorry, I bought a laptop with a broken hard drive, I took the hard drive out of the vaio netbook and used it on the broken one, now I have a new hard drive, I have put the vaio hard drive back in the vaio, it had windows 7 starter on a back up partition so I just restored it to factory settings

The issue has now been solved, thanks everyone who helped, I was passing a computer shop and I asked in there, he was repairing a netbook when I went in, he said I have probably knocked off the 2 connectors for the wifi and shown me the connectors, he was right, got home, looked they were both off, it now works perfectly, thought I would write this in the hope it helps anyone else with the same issue, thanks again everyone for the help
