Value RAM

Is it better to go with 2 gigs of Value RAM or 1 gig of OCZ Platinum Revision 2? Both are same speed but the OCZ oviously has tighter timings.

i dont know but i love my kingston hyper x ram it is the best of them all

i would think that the oc one wold be better

well depends on what you do with your computer. I would think that 2gigs of value ram would be better but i'm not sure.

If you want to do some serious oc'in, go with the 1GB. If you arnt going to o'c or only o'c a little, then value is a much better choice.

I want to play F.E.A.R well but even with my 7800gtx i can't put the settings on highest with 1 gig right now. Although it is generic RAM.....
So do you think performance will increase more with the extra gig or with the tight timings on the OCZ.

1GB of high bandwidth RAM can do circles around 2GB of slow RAM. That OCZ RAM can overclock easily. My current ValueRAM crashes above DDR440. There will only be a true difference if you overclock, which is what that OCZ RAM is made for. Not overclocking it would be like driving a Ferrari to the grocery store. The OCZ can get to andf above DDR600. The value can't get very far at all. In the 1GB~2GB RAM range bandwidth is a more important performance factor than capacity. To summarize, you can get:
2GB if you don't overclock.
1GB is you do overclock.
Even with video editing, you would probably do better with 1GB of high bandwidth memory.

I couldn't tell you which would perform better at any time, but If you go with the high quality ram and oc it, you could later get another gig and oc that too. Im sure you would be happier with 2 gigs ddr600+ rather than 4 gigs ddr450-ish.

I am getting either 2 gigs of ddr450-ish as you said, or 1 gig of high quality ram. So which should I get?
