Vcr recorder

:D Ha! Remember VCRs and VHS tapes? Well, I want to connect one to a Dell Inspiration 531 desktop computer. I want to record from the PC to the VCR recorder. There is an input plug on the VCR for an audio and video RCA jack. If I use a "3.5mm plug to RCA female jack adapter" on the other end of the RCA cord, I can plug it into an Audio Out plug on the computer. To get the video from the computer to the VCR is there a video out port on the back off the Dell 531, and can I connect it the same as I could the audio? Please note: I want to record from the PC to VHS tapes, and not play VHS tapes on the computer. I was told by some  it can't be done. Tell me if it can and how. Thanks.

Umm......never heard of it let alone why your would want to. even if ya could it would require special software. never seen the software.

Don't see why it couldn't be done- should work fine. For the audio side your spot on- you'll need something like this- so the 3.5mm jack will go into your computer and the 2 RCA leads (stereo, so ones for audio left and ones for audio right) will go into the VCR recorded.

Erm for the video you'll just need something that looks like this, male RCA to male RCA lead-

Yeah you'd just plug that from your computer into your VCR recorder. Just make sure for recording the video the RCA video port on your computer is turned on (might be a setting under your graphics option somewhere).

except for one thing. its not the cable to plug in for compatibility. Its the software used to write it in vcr format. what would that be?

I'm pretty sure it will work, there will be no special software needed in this case as both the audio and video coming out of the computer will be analog.

One final item needed

Thanks for all your input. The audio connections: RCA on one end and a 3.5mm to RCA on the other end will work for the audio. A RCA cable will connect to the video-in on the vcr. BUT BUT BUT there is no "RCA" Video-out on the DELL INPIRATION desktop 531. Where and how do I connect to the Video-out on the PC? An answer to this should be all I need; well, except for _________________________________________________________________;)_________________________________________________________________;)_________________________________________________________________;)_________________________________________________________________;)_________________________________________________________________;)_________________________________________________________________;)______.

Does it have a super video (S-Video) socket - looks like a PS/2 mouse socket? On the computer and VCR. That is how I connect my TV and laptop.

For Example:

Hope that helps, Doug.
