VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS (internal) connectable to eSATA laptop?

I want to back up my laptops' data which has an eSATA connector but because I will be mainly using the backup hardrive(WD3000GLFS) in my server computer 99.9% of the time, is it possible to use the VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS(requiring SATA AND Power cable) as a quick external back up harddrive for my laptop when I copy and backup my laptops data for 20 minutes periodically each month?

and what components/cable do I need? This is complicated.

In other words will this SATA velociraptor even have any power if I buy a Sata to eSATA converter cable if I connect this SATA WD3000GLFS to my laptops' eSATA connector? because this Velociraptor is desigined to operate with SATA AND a power cable, whereas my laptop only has a eSATA connector. I guess the question is. . .Does the power to operate this WD3000GLFS harddrive come from the SATA/eSATA cable(like USB) or must I buy somekind of power source to power up this Velociraptor? and what kind of power/adapter should I buy?

EDIT:I did some research after asking at WD, but they told me I have to ask the manufacturer of each HDD enclosure if its compatible with the WD model, even though I think its WD that should know that information, plus I would really rather have a more convenient docking station, but which one is what I hope someone here can better answer.Thanks.

Usually eSATA doesn't provide any power, but your enclsure should have some sort of power souce (either a USB cable or a wall plug). The drive itself should work in any enclosure provided it has the correct connections.

You should know that this drive requires 12 volts as well as 5 volts. !2 volts is not provided by any commonly available 2.5" enclosures as all laptop drives run from 5 volts only.
