Very bad with computers (and buying one)

hello, I will try to keep this short.
I am absolutely horrible when it comes to knowing about computers, how they work, how they are put together.
But, it's about that time where this old computer just isn't cutting it.
I doubt I would be able to put one together, so I was hoping to find a decent premade computer for a little over a grand.

I stumbled upon this

it seemed to have good reviews and it even had an fps thing that showed what it got playing starcraft 2

The main purpose of this new computer will be gaming. and the main concerns are if it will be able to run diablo 3, starcraft 2 on high settings.

It's a big investment so I thought I would run this by some more knowledgeable people.

you'll get a more superior pc if you build it yourelf. and it will cost less. for a little over a grand you'll have a better pc than in your link, and i didnt even check the details of it.
if you chose the DYI, you can get all the suggestions and recommendations for the parts right here. along with explinations of why those parts are suggested. and how they compare to your linked pc.
 
You can build a very nice rig right now for the $1200. There are some great deals. What area do you live in and do you already have things like monitor/keyboard/mouse? Do you have driving access to a Microcenter?

Ohio man. and I'm really not sure i'm up for building. I have no idea what a micro center is even (heh)

Let's just say i'm willing to shell out that extra 100-200 or whatever for it being pre built. would the link be a decent rig that would run most things?

I really hate to sound like some shut in who doesn't want to learn something.
The whole thing just confuses the hell out of me. I honestly spent a good hour trying to learn how to simply install a new "video card driver" for my current pc without any luck.
 
That's software that's difficult. hardware is much simpler :)

Windows 7 takes about 20 minutes to install and will automatically find drivers for your hardware. otherwise you just go to the manufacturers site and download the latest ones (for video cards) or install it from cd (other hardware)

Windows update also has driver upgrades.

If you have any games on STEAM you can also get automated driver upgrades for video cards through there, minimal input required :)
 
There are Microcenters in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincy. Between Microcenter and NewEgg deals going on right now, the rig you could build for $1200 is ridiculous. A 950 with a 480 surrounded by solid components is doable this week for under $1200. Building is no big thing... the pieces pretty much just plug into each other. I've only built one and it runs great. If you happen to be in the Youngstown area then we're not to far apart.
 
is there some sort of service to set up a custom possibly?
If I went to build my own I would have no idea what to get.
is a prebuilt really that bad of a choice?
 
It can be. they cheap out on the Mobo, PSU. RAM and HDD so they are likely to fail after a while. especially power supplies.

Hmm. Generally the machines stuffed with crap (hardware and software) are pre-built OEM ones, e.g. Dell or HP
 
can we just recommend this man a pc instead of tryin to make him do something hes not familiar/capable of doing.but as they said building one from the ground up will yield more preformance per dollar.yes, that computer you have picked will run them games at max setting with no problem.

You could, if ya wanted..
ask a local shop for the manuf. and model # of each component you'd get from them at your price point.
then bring the list here for input on quality/cost/and how it measures up to whatever you find pre-buit.
it could even be done on the phone.

Ok. I'm going to look around, I will keep this in mind and try to get all the info.
