"very low disk space"

i have a dell and use windows vista (big mistake.) my computer continually requests that i "upload an unknown device" each time i restart my computer. i recently tried to back up my files, and now it's telling me i have "low disk space" when there's no reason for that.

help? advice?
 
First off getting Vista is not a problem and your problem is not caused by Vista. The problem is you. Your computer is infected with a virus/spyware. I've seen this on a few other PCs lately. Either NOD32 or Norton AV 2009 can get rid of it. As of yet the AVG doesn't seem to get rid of it but it should be able too soon I hope.

Please follow the instructions here and them come back here and post the requested logs.

Also, are you sure it says exactly "upload an unknown device"?
 
Deal with the disk space first

The important thing is that you verify whether or not you are actually low on space and then deal with getting Vista more. Without enough disk space to keep your OS from choking, you will likely have issues installing the tools that you need to fix any spyware/viruses that you may have.

1) Open "My Computer" and see how much space there is.
2) If it is low, RIGHT click on the drive in question and then LEFT click on "properties."
3) From there, click on the "disk cleanup" button and let it run.
4) You will see a list of items that Windows can remove to clear space. I would choose all of them EXCEPT "compress old files."
5) If you still need more space, go to Control Panel--->Add/Remove Programs and see if there are applications that you can remove to free up more space. NOTE: If you don't know what a program is for, Google it first or ask! Some programs with boring names are actually important! :)
 
following from what xtech said, with vista you need not go to properties of the drive. To check if it is full go to computer and it says how much of the total capacity is free.

For the disk cleanup, start>all programs>accesories>system tools>disk cleanup

or the way that was said before, the start menu one is just a little less fiddly, but both are good :)
