As weird as it sounds its my first time Overclocking my MSI GTX 970 since I build my Rig last year. I was wondering if anyone knows of better Overclock settings to use on MSI Afterburner. Can I manage to squeeze more FPS on Heaven than this?

Just put the temp and power limit to the maximum, then increase the core clock, memory clock and voltage until it's no longer stable or starts to thermal throttle.

GPU overclock is mostly pointless. The power draw and temperature increase doesn't linearly scale with fps improvements. At best, you'll get 5-10 peak fps, and will increase your avg fps by around 2-3. Especially with how Nvidia deals with their Boost technology which already factory overclocks to a decent amount if given enough thermal headroom.

Well for people like me who want high benchmark scores and have watercooled GPUs it's not pointless :)

The whole thing you're doing defines pointless.

I agree, but it makes me happy.

Would that imply your happiness is pointless?

Maybe, but to each their own.

I was saying that watercooling the cards is pointless from a performance standpoint, overclocking isn't

If you think watercooling gives you a significant OC headroom, you're daft.

I don't. I do it for the looks. What I said is that watercooling the GPUs is pretty pointless from a performance standpoint because it doesn't really increase your overclocking headroom. But I do it with passion. Just like some people like to tune their cars and make them as fast as possible even though the speed limit is 60 km/h.

A poor analogy considering there are tracks and you can break the speed limit and there's more to cars than top speed.

Anyway, let's not derail any further. :)

*Cough Cough* So my Heaven Score looks good for an MSI GTX 970? or could I get a bit higher? I basically found a guide online telling me what to set the Clock and Core to. Guys think I could go higher? I just copied and pasted so not sure what I am doing.

Just a fair warning, I wrecked my gtx 770 2Gb from overclocking, and got a refurbished one under warranty. Then I sold it, and then the refurbished one the guy told me had to get sent in again for a new one. Just to warn you, especially if it's not under warranty, could fry it.
