very strange behavior on custom built pc

ok so i built this pc in september last year. i didnt have any hitches setting it up and it has run flawlessly since the build until now. here's the setup:

-ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
-Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
-CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit
-2x(RAID0)Western Digital Caviar Blue WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA
-ASUS EAH4870/HTDI/1G Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
- i run windows XP SP3

so the other night i turn my computer off before i go to bed. i wake up the next morning and hit the power button on my way to the bathroom. i didn't see the startup or anything, i was simply walking by when i did this. i come back to the computer and its still in startup. the screen is black, and I know i'm an idiot for not writing the msg down but at the top of the screen it said something to the effect of their being no operating system to load. so i figure, hmm, ill restart and see if it was just one of those funny things that happens every so often. so i restart. it boots fine at beginning. then it comes to the screen which usually displays both of my harddrives and the RAID partition they make up. one of the HDD shows fine. the other is nonexistent and the Raid partition usually in white text is now red and has the note of "Not bootable" tagged on the end. so at this point im thinking one of my hard drives failed. no big deal. ill get another and reformat. so i restart the computer again just to be thorough, making sure the same thing happens. well IT DOESNT. i hit reset. the pc restarts(fans run, lights on mobo light up, cd player lights are going as well as HDD and power) BUT there is NO VIDEO INPUT TO THE MONITOR. the monitor says there is no signal. this is where i am at now. i start the computer, everything sounds normal coming from the case. but there is nothing being sent to the monitor. i have checked all connections. taken out and put back in video card and checked all hard drive connections also. the two problems dont seem to have anything to do with one another unless there is something wrong with the motherboard. this mobo has one of those LCD POSTERs that u can hook up to give u codes as to what might be wrong. i hooked it up. with the computer ON and OFF the lcd reads one msg that doesnt flash or change at any point. "CPU INIT" looking this up in the debug table in the back of my manual the descriptino for this code is simply "CPU Initiation". anyone have any ideas as to the next step i should take?

I think your BIOS needs to be flashed with the BIOS upgrade to make the motherboard compatible with your chipset just to make sure

Oh dear. I think you missed the part where the OP said "it has run flawlessly since September".

Besides, a BIOS flash wouldn't make the motherboard compatible with the chipset. The chipset is already compatible, since it's built onto the board...

This is not like an AMD AM2+ motherboard that needs a flash to run a
Phenom II cpu. This is an Intel board.
