Hi, I've been away for a while. I have a macbook pro and the desktop in my sig (not oc'ed) running at the same time. The desktop has another harddrive in it, and the one in the sig has started to fail, it's all backed up, it clicks sometimes and fails once in a while, I just havent replaced it yet.

I'll be using my laptop with my desktop sitting idle next to me, and I'm doing something on my laptop, typing this text out, for example, and the laptop will freeze for a second, and as it freezes, the harddrive in my desktop starts making noise or clicks, then once the noise stops, the laptop resumes. this didn't just happen once, its been happening all night, and It may have happened before and I just didnt notice it. how is this possible? the laptop power adapter is plugged into a surge protector which is plugged into the same outlet as the desktop

I've heard of like emf interference in close proximity discreet components, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it, the laptop is about 2.5 feet away from the desktop

what is this i dont even

Try switching outlets? Maybe your HDD starts to click and pulls more power and freezes the laptop. Is the laptop plugged in when this happens?

This is truly one of the oddest PC problems I've ever heard of.

laptop is on wireless, desktop is wired, but to same router on same modem, I was thinking it could be a power issue, the desktop is straight into the same outlet that the surge protector->power adapter->laptop is plugged into, but the laptop isn't running straight off wall power, its running off battery and the wall power is charging the battery...I just replaced the desktop harddrive and this problem doesn't happen anymore, but i couldn't believe it at the time. how odd is that?!?!
