Very urgent. switching to another HDD

my package didnt come with an OS installation cd. oh yeah and theyre both 80 gb. what would be the easiest way because im not looking forward to alot of complex stuff dealing with reinstalling and that sort.

and also for future reference, since its starting to get confusing, the dell hdd is the c drive and the one im trying to put in is the f drive. and the c drive is split into the local disk and the back up, or the c and d drives

yeah do you see in those pictures, thats how my hard drive is set up. and on the top where my dvd drive is, theres one more space under there for another cd drive and theres also no bracket for my floppy disk. and theres only one more data cable slot to hook up something right under the dvd drive so if i want to put in another hdd then i have to buy an adaptor and put it right there.

everything is so confusing. i really hate dell now! i didnt get a recovery disk because i think i had to pay extra for that. and i have already called them about 7 times already, all over a period of 2 days. everytime i called i would speak to some hispanic woman and i wouldnt understand anything they are saying and they ended up canceling my printer order twice already, just because they didnt know what the hell i was talking about. and everytime i call their customer service it takes nearly 15 minutes until i reach a representative.

ok sorry that was my rant.

so is there anyway i would be able to get a product key for that norton ghost from someone or would that be illegal. illegal huh? all i want to do is have one hard drive with everything on it and i have to go through all of this....

EDIT: and also right now i have been temporarily hooking up my second hard drive using the second (or middle) cd/dvd data cable connector. is that ok? i dont have a second connector for the data cable that is connected to my hard drive.

You can slave a hard drive off of cd drive since they are both ide drives. If you have a problem with it set to the slave position move the jumper to cable select so that you can access the drive. Once you have your files copied to the drive that came with the laptop that's 1/2 the battle there.

ok thanks. i guess im just going to have to buy the hard drive adapter and just have two hard drives. thats all that i can do. the whole copying thing is much too stressful for me. and im still pissed that it doesnt have an agp slot.. i wanted to get a video card, because im just using the onboard video right now...

now i just need to delete all of these useless programs that came with my dell computer. if only i knew what some of these are..
