VG33 - Possibility of upgrading (?)

Hi every1,

I'm new in this forum. I would like to get some informations relatively to a motherboard i have. Yesterday, my computer tech told me that my Mobo dont work anymore and that he cant sell me a new one because it comes from Emachine.

Due to the relatively high price of the original mobo (thanks to emachine parts store) and due to the fact that i dont like buying back stuff that burned into my hands i would like to know if i can't upgrade to a new mobo. (my tech almost said "no")

I got a Pentium 4 - Intel - 2.6 gHz - Well i have a W4682 from emachine.
Is there any good motherboard that would work with my system?

Thanks,

Maxorrr

Thanks for the quick answer.

I actually have a video card (Gainward FX 5200)

The tech said "It's possible, by changing the mobo, that your system dont work because it's a build-in XP machine" ... I didnt catch everything obviously but... I buy one of these mobo and replace all the connection and it should work?

Thanks

There is a good chance that you will have to reinstall XP, which means formating your hard drive. You will lose all information. If you have two hard drives, you could install XP in one and then get the information off of the second.

Yeah i got a backup drive... and i just had it reinstalled so... No problem

Thats what he meant?! big deal... I thought he was saying that the system wouldnt work AND that i had to reinstall the SAME mobo...

Thanks for help!

So i got the new Motherboard (The P4M80-M4 from Biostar)

I plugged everything back in place, but when i turn the pc on. Everything seems to work except my monitor dont turm on. The fan's turning, i can hear the hard drives but nothing loads...

It wont load from a cd/optical drive,...
