VGA cables causing feedback

I have my desktop computer hooked up to my TV with a VGA cable, equipped with an audio cable that splits off of the VGA. From doing so, my TV and computer speakers get this feedback clicking sound. I have noticed that turning on another wall switch (a light or a fan) sometimes makes the clicking louder for a period of time. I read that I can get something to softer or reduce the feedback noise, but would using an HDMI cable instead of VGA eliminate the excess power?

Yes, using an hdmi cable should work flawlessly. You probably have an issue with one of the cables causing the feedback.
