VGA Controller Driver

Hey guys/gals,

I have an HP Pavillion a6110n with an LG Flatron L222WT LCD Monitor. HP by default, installs vista on their computers now, and as a result, no longer offers support for XP on their computers. I have recently downgraded to XP SP2 after much frustration and feeling as though I had been kicked while I was down for supporting such an unstable OS.

However, I cannot play games and when browsing the net or explorer folders, every time I scroll down a page (whether it be with the mouse or keyboard), it lags terribly. I have been told that I need to install the drivers for my displays. I have already replaced my NVIDIA graphics card drivers, however, I cannot find any way of fixing the issue with the VGA Controller.

When I go into display > settings > advanced > monitor, the option to change from default is grayed out as well as all of the other buttons on that tab.

I would appreciate any help you can give me, and the sooner the better! :o

Thanks to everyone for this awesome site and making a great community!

Cheers

you have an nvidia card? you should be able to download the driver from www.nvidia.com

as for windows XP.. why would you downgrade if you play video games? ive been using vista for awhile now and i have to say, its pretty streamlined. sure here and there it uses a bunch of memory, but i got 4gb for $70 and it works faster than XP did for some operations.

not only that, but you get direct X 10 too.. video game support is a must.

lol let's just say I'm an old fashioned kinda guy... I'll stick with my good ol' XP... Vista was nice, and I will admit that it had it's pros, but the cons outweighed the pros for my uses.

So you think that nvidia support will have the driver for the Video Controller? I've already downloaded from their site and saw nothing of the sorts... also, there is a yellow question/exclamation mark beside the PCI Simple Communications Controller as well, in the Device Manager under Other devices (same as the Video Controller)

what type of video card is it? i didn't say that, i said if you have an nvidia card then nvidia.com will have your driver. if its an ati card then ati.amd.com will have your driver... if you have a via integrated card, or another companies card, then it will be on their respective website.
