VGA heatsink fan not spinning-Please help

Recently, while playing games, my computer has been freezing up, which then leads to a restart. I figured the problem was a heat issue because i was not failing to a blue screen or getting any error messages like would be happening if it was a RAM problem or something. I ended up finding out that the fan attached to the heatsink of my VGA has stopped spinning. I spent some time trying to fix this by taking the fan off the card's heatsink, blowing some compressed air on it to get out any dirt buildup, obstructions, etc...no luck. I then took it back off, and noticed that the fan was becoming very, very difficult to spin, and the canned air was not moving it a bit, and i could move it with my finger but it took way more efffort than it should have. So, i then got it a little more loose with some lubricants, and thought i was good to go...but when i put the card back in the slot, the fan would still not spin.

Any inkling of help would be greatly appreciated

the fan probably burned itself out due to too much friction. I would just get another cooler like the others said. What garphics card do you have?

i'm using an nvidia 6600GT GPU on an MSI card

Most of the Zalman coolers supports that. Just check the site to see if the one you like supports it. The site tells you how to install it too, so it should help.

Happy Heatsink Shopping ;)
