VGA monitor not working? [Please help]

I've posted on this forum alot while trying too choose the perfect budget gaming pc (I really appreciate it),and I've purchased this;

It arrived this morning and I tried too use a bog standard VGA monitor, after plugging the computer in along with the keyboard and mouse I took the VGA cable that comes w/ the monitor and is permanently attatched, and the "no connection" sign went away, but still was just a black screen :S I read the thread on beep code by VistaKid and there's no beeping, it powers up just fine and I don't know what too do, the monitor works fine on all my other computers. please help.



EDIT: The PC came with a "VGA driver". This says to put it in and follow the instructions on screen, but without a screen, I can't do it :S.

Try removing the graphics card and then using onboard video if the board and CPU supports it. The graphics card may have just come lose whilst shipping and may just need re-seating. Also make sure the builders plugged the 6-pin PCI express power cable into the graphics card, that may have come loose during shipping too.

Gahh, I'm worried of it being something more damaged and by opening it up it voids the warranty :( Apart from grounding myself any precautions I should take?
 
If it voids the warranty I'd get in touch with the seller and tell him that you're having this issue and you're wondering if reseating the graphics card would solve it.

To answer your question, make sure the power supply is turned off too - Earth runs regardless of whether the power supply is on or off.
 
Of note. On the page it says that if you have a secondary card then onboard video is disabled. Make sure you're plugging in to the actual video card and not the motherboard plug. The plug should be away from all the USB plugs ins and other stuff on the mobo.

What does that mean, about the on-board VGA port is disabled? There's only one of them?? Does it mean I need to open up the PC to plug the cable in or something?
 
You need to plug the monitor into the graphics card, not into the motherboard! That's why it's not working if you plugged it into the motherboard.
 
Yes! It's working, the seller meant I needed to convert the VGA to HDMI, thanks guys! :D Just one last thing please, my PC doesn't support wireless networks :( Is there anyway to plug it into my laptop as a wired connection, or someone link me too a "wireless usb" I've been told about, I know how to set up a wireless router from my laptop but not a wired one :(


Note: If it means anything, my router is all the way downstairs and my PC is upstairs :S

Could it reach to my downstairs router do you think? :) and is possible to use my laptop for a short time? :)


Edit: Or maybe theirs some software I can put on a normal USB to do the same thing?

You should be fine either of those adapters, or you could get an internal PCIe x1 card for your desktop.

You can use the USB adapter in your laptop just fine and you should be able to connect to your router downstairs fine. My Grandad has one of those little Edimax adapters and he's upstairs and can connect to his router downstairs without any issues. :)

Side note, how is the new PC? Can you post some pics of it? I'm curious to see how these eBay pre-built machines look. :D

Of course, and I meant can I plug my laptop into my desktop and use the laptop as a router in the meantime while I'm waiting for this USB :D Let me go get my camera :D

Oh wait, do you mean the case and outside or inside (I don't have the screwdriver to open it)

Looks pretty sweet! What's it like inside the case?

Not sure if you can plug your laptop into your desktop and use that as a router. You can plug a CAT5-E cable into your desktop which goes straight to the router and that would work.

I'll try and find a screwdriver and see if I can open it up, we recently moved house so I don't think we have one, I'm also interested on what's inside, especially the cable management :D


Ok, I'm about too order the second router you recommended (the faster one), so all I do is plug it into a usb slot on my PC and I have wireless, boom, that's it?
 
They should do or when you plug the USB dongle into your PC Windows may automatically download the correct drivers for you.
 
Should be fine. If you don't get the speed you want you could always try moving your PC or your router a bit.
