VGA monitor to DVI input in GPU

Hi,

I have a new computer and this came with DVI input and HDMI only. The problem is that I only have a VGA monitor, so I purchased an adapter (VGA to DVI) in order to use my current monitor. I conected the monitor but nothing happened, no signal at all and the computer works perfectly in my television through HDMI... is there a step I am missing?. I dont want to buy a new monitor!

How old is your monitor?

My new gpu would not show any signal on my old monitor yet on my tv it worked fine.

Is there a vga socket you can try the gpu in on your tv or is it just hdmi?

Is it possible to try another monitor

My monitor is not too old, it is a led (I dont remember details).

My television has HDMI and VGA, but I cannot try this there because the problem is the conection in the computer that doesnt receive or read the signal. Maybe it is the GPU's connection that is presenting issues (DVI). I though that I needed to configure something before trying. The HDMI works fine.

Ahh, have you tried a different vga cable, im not too sure but i would think that if one input was working the rest should.

I could be wrong so probably best to wait see what other members suggest.

If you can though it may be worth trying a different cable.

My theory was:

1-the VGA-DVI adapter is not working good
2-the input of the GPU (DVI) is not working good
3-additional configuration is needed in order to activate the DVI input

Im stumped mate, i would have thought it would work considering the hdmi input does.

Sorry for the little help, hope you get it sorted out soon.
