ive seen VGA ports labeled with a rectangle and VGA ports labeled with a rectangle with vertical lines on both sides. whats the difference between them?
 
I think I know what you are talking about... As far as I know, there is no difference. Do you have any examples of the two, such as what computers use them.
 
yea the Sonys use the rectangles and the HPs use the rectangles with the vertical lines next to them. thats just one example though.
 
With such a generic example as that, I'm quite sure they're the same. I don't know of any real differences in VGA. One's probably just showing a "monitor" icon. Not sure about the other right off.
