With the help of DVD decrypter and DVD shrink it's easy to back up DVD movies but I'm having trouble with the old VHS conversions. Capture with nero results in an 8 meg MPEG file. Nero says it can't shrink the file sufficiently to fit on a DVD. DVD shrink just gives an error message and won't accept the file. Nero says I must re author it but doesn't say how much of the movie I must remove.I need some kind of reference on describing each video file, it's properties, and compressibility to remain high quality.I notice commercially digitized versions of old movies are usually of excellent quality. Evidentally there are ways to compress these old movies and still retain sharpness and true colors. Suggestions? I bought a professionally digitized version of "Easy rider" and it was excellent, high definition couldn't be sharper.
