Hi, i just found a gpu laying around and i decided to put it in my moms comp and all it does is beep when i turn it on with nothing on screen? what should i do?

Does the motherboard have onboard video? Make sure that's disabled or the primary video is set to whatever slot the board plugs into(PCI, AGP, or whatever)

What's the beep code, too? I think it's two long ones and three short is the no video beep...

Disconnect the new card, then go into the BIOS (Del, F1, something like that on most comps) and look for a place to turn it off.

The majority of the computers I've seen use DEL to enter the setup, but some are F1, F2, and sometimes even CTRL S or something like that... From there there's usally something like intergraded peripherals, and video. You can usally disable onboard video, or just set the primary video as I mentioned above(though that's sometimes found in advanced setup...)
