i searched a little bit, and gave up, im in a hurry to get this ordered, hopefully by tomorrow and im not sure what to do for a vid card

last thanksgiving i built me a gaming rig and the 8800gt was the obvious choice for a vid card, now they have dropped in price, and i have been satisfied w/ it, but i think i need to upgrade in this build for my brother, he will be into gaming more than i am

after searching and all im still not sure what to do, what are the good cards out there, anywhere from 200 for an 8800gts to 300 for the 4870, how much better, where will i see the changes

my bro wants his computer to max out crysis, how much will i have to spend to do this?

i just am out of the loop when it comes to vid cards now, how good are these 9800's?

Maxing out crysis at what res? If you want to max out crysis at any high res your more than likely gonna need to SLI, and for that i would recommend either the 8800GTS/9800GTX,(9800GTX is a very good card, plays fsx maxed out at 1680x1050 at about 50fps for me with dx10 enabled), and in SLI they would be great. If you are not doing sli the GTX 260/280 or 9800GX2's are looking to be good deals.

im looking at two monitors, one is native at 1660 x 1050, i am leaning towards that one so probably max it at that resolution, if not at least at 1440x900

i cant afford to go sli, and i dont think i can afford either the gtx 260 or 9800gx2, now if i get the 8800gts he might could go sli later, not sure

this is just a thank you gift to him so i cant go too expensive, i do want it to run nice in crysis, mainly because if it pulls that off itll pull off most games, maybe not max it out though, just high, i guess it doesnt even have to be dx10

how do the 4850's and 4870's compare to the 8800gt i have in mine, it runs crysis decent enough for me

3870 x2 is another option i guess, the 1gig since it helps w/ the higher resolutions, thats my understanding on the difference between the 512 and 1gig vid cards, is that correct
