VID CMOS setting????

So I just got my new Celeron D 356 ES CPU for overclocking and starting using it in my Asus P5PL2 motherboard. One change I noticed in the BIOS vs. my non-ES Pentium 4 520 is a new setting in the CPU Configuration called "VID CMOS setting." It can be set between 1 and 62. I've done some googling on it and still can't figure out what it does and how it affects the voltage. Does anyone here know?

looks like several explainations here and seems like a good idea of what it is.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. I just did a bit more googling and I think it affects the default voltage. Mine is automatically set to 62, and I'm not sure if adjusting it will allow me to set the voltage higher or not. I think it's also only for ES CPUs. Has anyone here who's used ES CPUs know anything about it?

I found that link, but I still don't completely understand what they're saying. They never really said what the number corresponds to. I also found another link that said that older high-voltage Willamette Pentium 4s used a 45 and newer ones used a 62, which would mean that lower is higher-voltage. It still kinda confuses me.

Also, btw I've currently got the Celeron D 356 up to 4.5GHz on air @ 1.5v VCore. :) :good:
