Video animation

I'm looking to build a computer for video animation and rendering and such and i was wondering what parts i would need to stress the most on. Im thinking the most important of them all would be a good video card and plenty of RAM. What other parts play a significant role in animation and such?

The program i use most will be Max 9.

A good video card, lots of ram, and a very powerful CPU. Not a gaming video card though, you need a card to render lots of crap, like these.

A WD raptor 10,000rpm hard drive for your OS and program files and a huge HD for your video files.

The raptor will give you the fastest access times for rendering. Ram is also a factor for rendering video.

If you are going to be doing 3d animation, then that Quatro video card would be a good choice. But if you are going to be doing reqular 2D video editing a 8800GT would be a good card, even a 1950XT would be a good choice.

Really all you need is a good card with 512 of onboard ram and a card that uses openGL and Direct 3d drivers will handle anything you need with 3ds max 9 animation.

The newer versions of Max 9 work with a 64bit OS, so you might consider using that and 4 gigs of ram.
