What are the best codecs out ther, that are free. I currently have some Klight ones. I know nothing of codecs, or even how to spell it right:rolleyes: Anyways.. Yeah what codecs do you have, and what ones should I get?

all depends on what you're doing, like I watch a lot of xvid's and rip my dvd's into it so I use that, you ought to be able to find a zip of just lots of codecs from somewhere

I dont watch too many Dvd's, but I do have downloaded music videos and such from Limewire. But I didnt say that on the public forum

my friend's got a private ftp and we have over 150 downloaded/ripped movies on it so you're one of the least likely to get caught. Anyways those are probably all mpeg and avi. Mpeg ought to work fine with any up to date version of WMP, as well as most of your avi's, I'd download divx and xvid too, but doubt you'll be seeing much of them with just music videos

i think AVI and MP4 are the best video codecs
MP3 and WMA (smaller file but awesome quality) are the best audio codecs

Well, I have them, and they work fine. But I was under the impression, that with better codecs, the video, and sound quality got better.

yeah, at least that's what's supposed to happen, you get better quality with the same amount of space, it compresses better I guess would be the correct way of saying it
