video card errors

I reformatted my computer not too long ago and when I try to install my video card drivers, this error message keeps popping up. Sometimes, it doesn't even let me get past the second menu. At the main menu of the cd, I select which driver I want to install, then it goes to the second menu asking me which mode in I want to install it with. I select the mode, then it goes back to the first menu. Wtf is up with that? After a few attempts, it finally installs it, but when it's nearly done installing, this error message pops up saying the drivers haven't been properly installed. Also, for some reason, I can browse through folders and surf the net without any lag, but when I try to play a game, the game crashes my computer and automatically restarts my system whenever I click "play" at the startup menu of the game.

On another forum, someone suggested I have to update my drivers. So I went to ATI's site and downloaded the catalyst centre thingy for my video card (just in case you're wondering, it's the Radeon 9200 128 MB model). But during installation, the same error message popped up saying "zero display error" and another one after the installation was done mentioning something about the installation path being incorrect or something like that. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I need a new video card. But I don't understand why this would be happening. My computer worked fine before I reformatted.

i was looking at the drivers, and it said that it's compatible with xx00 series, would it not work for the x850s?

im pretty sure ther compatible with almost all ati cards. IF not it will let you know and not allow you to install them.

try installing some old drivers... maybe the ones that came with the card. they wouldn't give the best performance possible but its better than not being able to play games at all, and with a 9200 it doesnt seem like you care much about performance lol... :/
