Video card for ancient PC

My motherboard is ECS Via KM-400 M2 CPU Duron 1800Mhz, 512Mb PC3200. What video card would be better to buy if I want to play Doom3? :)
 
I agree. Your CPU clock is so low for runing Doom 3 with optimal performance. IMO The best choice in this situation would be Ati Radeon 9600.
 
and i had a 9600 pro with a P4 2.5 Ghz with 1 Gb of ram and doom 3 ran on low/medium settings still not great i did have lag spikes
 
My Radeon 8500 could run Doom3. Something like that might be a decent choice for the machine. Though, you never said if you had AGP or PCI...

KM-400 - this is AGP-8x chipset. So I could recomend you GeFoece6600 or 6600GT and try to overclock your CPU to get a better result!
 
Duron's/Athlons of that vintage ran hot. I wouldn't really try to push it hard on an overclock without investing in a new cooler.
