Hello, i'm new here and looking for advice. I want to upgrade my video card so I can play my games on max level. I'm not sure what is the best card out there that my computer will work with so I would appreciate some help.

Currently have:

Dell XPS 420
Windows Vista 32 bit
4 GB RAM
NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS
PCI Express x16
IRQ: 16
Memory Interface 128-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.66GHz

Not sure what IRQ and Memory Interface is, but I hope I supplied you with enough info to help me. I am looking to spend a max of $350.

Thanks,
Johnny

Will that video card u linked fit into my computer?

Based on the info I posted above using CPUID, is there anything else I need to upgrade?

Also, is the video card you linked, the best one I can get at the moment? I want one that will be able to perform great with the new MMOs coming out. ( got 350$ budget)

If it is, then thank you and I will go and buy it.

You should check your power supply. Look on the side of it . You will see the wattage and the 12v amps. Post them up.

The GTS 250 will chew a lot more power than your current card.

great point, the PSU is very important when upgrading anything, especially a graphics card, on a prebuilt computer. i'm surprised this wasn't brought up earlier.

Power supply:

330 volts.

Maximun Load: 15A 125VAC 60HZ 1875 Watts

based on this information, you'll need to upgrade the power supply as well. that just won't cut it for a GTS 250

Ok, can someone link me a godly power supply from newegg? If the gfx card is only gonna cost me 150$, I will be willing to spend 150$ on a power supply.

Thanks!

First we need to know the size of your case in order to determine what sized psu. So what size is your case you can probs get this info on dells website.

you don't have to really bother checking connections, all the corsair ones have 20+4 mobo connector and the one linked has a 4 pin CPU cable which is what the E6750 takes, so that is safe.

The graphics card will come with molex to PCI-E power adapter so that is no problem, but that unit comes with plent PCI-E connectors for a GTS250
