I have a dell inspiron 530 and an acer monitor. my inspiron only has a vga connection and my acer has both a vga and a dvi-d connection. but i want to hook my xbox 360 up to my acer as well because i dont have a hd tv and then i could play in hd on my xbox. but the cord they make for the xbox 360 only allows you to use vga so i cant have both my xbox 360 and computer hooked up at the same time. Is there a dvi-d video card i could buy and if so could u link. and would that work? thanks

i dont want to play any games on my computer i just want to be able to hook my computer up with a dvi-d connection because the vga output im using for hookin up my xbox 360

I'm not sure but it almost takes no experience to install one. Especially one of these low-performance models that don't require power from the PSU. All you do is plug it in and install the drivers.

oh sweet so i just stick it into the back of my tower? and your sure it will work with dvi-d because i tried dvi adapters and they wouldn't work

Not necessarily plug it into the back

How to install a video card

It would probably take you like 10 mins research tops, it's not too complicated. Yes, these cards have a DVI output. And what do you mean you've tried DVI adapters? What was your setup with the DVI adapter?

i bought a vga to dvi adapter thinking that dvi-d and dvi were the same thing but there not and it wouldnt fit in because of the pins that arent there on dvi-d. so is it a dvi or dvi-d video card or both.

What is the model number of your monitor? The card should be compatible with the monitor. I don't see why they would make a video card in one DVI format that is incompatible with a DVI format on a monitor.
