video card install help

Video Card
Geforce 8400GS 512MB
PCI Express


I turned the stock video card off then cut the computer off. Then i put the 8400GS in and turned the pc on. The pc starts up but nothin shows up on the screen. i sat on the phone with tech support for 2 hours they will not pick up the phones.

Go into the bios and disable the onboard video. Also make sure you have the monitor plugged into the dedicated card and not the onboard video. Unfortunately, some users make that mistake.

Dont know what that really means. You didnt take the video card out with the computer running?

Try the card in another pc and see if it works. You will have to start diagnosing now.

well its not the card it works in a dell why wont it work in my pc

it's possible your video card slot is bad. Did you go into the bios and disable onboard video?

i got it to work i cant believe it but it was my monitor it will not work with the video card i dont know why but i pull a old dell from like 99' and its up and working great
