I recently baught a 6600gt agp card its an albatron but there is a problem with my 3Dmark01 score i upgraded to this from a radeon 9700 pro to the 6600 gt but the score on the 9700 pro is 14,000 and the score with the 6600 gt is 14,227 WTF?!?!?!?! my specs are 2800+ xp Barton with 768mb ram 512 in dual channel and a MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Nforce 2 mainboard:confused and my friend has the same card with an amd 64 2.0ghz but his score is 18,680 on his AGP i dont know what is going on here is it the FSB on my CPU that is holding it back or what all updated drivers on vid card and Mainboard

Use 3DMark03 or 05 to compare the cards. 2001 will be severly CPU limited in your setup, which is why your friend does so much better with the same card.

When you get a score like that compared to your old card in 3DMark 01, then its definitely time for a CPU upgrade.

It may not seem important, but trust me, it is. I went from a 9600se to this X700 Pro and I had similar results. I'd score like 8,000 while online reviewers get around 18,000 out of the same card. The same went for in-game performance since my CPU just can't keep up with my video card. So if you want the full potential of your video card in games, then get a new CPU.

Thanks that is what ive figured on 3dmark03 I score 7,748 but my friend scores 8,235 but i know he has the 64-bit CPU and there for he has 1,000 mhz FSB and direct access to memory since the controller is on the CPU its self but not that big of difference same like PCI-E x16 its only like a 800 point gain incress over the AGP but limited to some of the best cards you can get but thanks alot I just wanted to make sure I was right in my own mind on this helped me out better than Tech support wouldve lol

see... here's the problem. you have 768mb of memory correct? that'll limit you because that means you have 3 sticks of memory. 3 sticks = single channel. i'll bet if you used two sticks of 256 in dual channel you'd boost your score a bunch.
if i were you, i'd buy a 7600gt or a 7600gs or something AGP compatible... thats better. lol
that'd be the thing that would boost your score the most.
isnt a barton 2800+ just a bit over 2ghz? i duno how reliable my sources are on athlon XP's haha... what are the specs of that cpu?

personally i don't worry about benchmarks as much as i do performance in actual games and such.
benchmarks are fun to play around with once in awhile though :)

It has 333mhz FSB 2.08ghz and i have 3 slots ONE DDR slot 2 sticks one 512 in DDR and 256 in the first slot and i just baught that card cuz this is gonna be a gamer on LAN so I can build my self a new computer with SLI:)
