Video card problem?

I recently built my computer, and the onboard video is working wonderfully from the motherboard, but my videocard doesn't seem to be working... or detecting my monitor.

I have a HIS Radeon 5770, and I believe it is seated correctly. I have a PCI-Express 8pin(in power supply) to 6pin(to video card) hooked up. The video cards fan works, but when I plug the DVI cable from my monitor into it, no detection.

I installed ATI's Catalyst driver thing and still no go?

Any ideas? Maybe I am just missing a step... do I have to switch it from onboard to video card?

My onboard video card works but not my actual video card.

Uninstall your 5770 drivers/software.

Reboot and immediately go into your BIOS. You need to diasble your onboard video via the BIOS first.

Reboot into Safe Mode and install your 5770 drivers/software.

Reboot again and let Windows load to desktop.

Okay, I went into BIOS and I cannot seem to find the disable for the onboard video.

I did find an Internal Graphics Mode that would let me disable it

However, I googled and found that I could disable my onboard video in the devices manager... but would that make me completely black, as it doesn't list my 5770 at all?

I'm not 100% sure if I even installed the drivers right. I looked up the 5770 drivers, and it installed the ATI catalyst. So if I disable the onboard in the device manager, install the 5770 drivers, that would work right? Or bad idea?

Maybe do I need to uninstall the Onboard graphics drivers (ATI Radeon HD 4250)?

It just so happens that my video card and onboard are both radeon, but mine is 5770.

So maybe take my video card out, uninstall the onboard drivers in safe-mode, shutdown. Seat my video card, and then install the drivers again? but IDK how ATI's driver deal deciphers between which one to install.

Going to bring this to the top of the screen to clarify that I still need help.

So I went into BIOS, and I didn't see an option on disabling my onboard graphics card. There was an option however that said Internal Graphics Mode, which I could disable. I googled it not sure, and apparently its a catch 22. It might work if you disable it, but then you might have just screwed up for having disabled it.

My onboard is a Radeon HD 4250, and I am in the process of trying to get my Radeon HD 5770 working. I have tried disabling the 4250 in the device manager in safe mode, rebooting and installing the ATi Catalyst driver stuff again, but when it is done installing and you View Log, it shows that installing the Radeon HD 4250 was successful.

I've even tried disabling it in safe mode, and shutting down the computer, unplugging it. Then reseating my video card, reboot ands till no go.

Any ideas?
