Video Card Problem?

I have this kinda of really faint upside down y shaped red mark just off the centre of my screen, really noticeable when on grey backgrounds, so it is really evident when playing grid, the mark will seem to follow me around when i change view or go around corners, I have tried adjusting various settings, reseating the gpu and using it in the other pci-express slot, is this a faulty gpu?

Computer is the one in the sig.

Monitor burn in maybe? If it stays in the same place all the time then it's probably a burnt in image on the monitor screen, if it moves around then it's a graphical issue and the monitor is fine.

it seems to stay in the same place but i dont know what could have caused the burn in though as i have never had anything like that shape there long enough to cause it, its like an upside down y.

Looking through a couple of soluotions for image persistence.

It makes sense as i turned off the screen saver and told it to never sleep as it was doing something to annoy me, that i now forget :)

yeah it is a little bit lol.

I'm gonna do some of things people have suggested that seem to repair, apparantly it is quite rare that the damage is permanant.

That would be the half life logo if you don't recognize it. :P Glad to hear it should be ok, I've never heard of burn in being fixed, but then I've never tried to fix it either.

apparantly its permanant on plasma but on lcd it is only rarely that it is

Tried using this jscreen fix tool and after that and a bit of white screen like mentioned above it has now faded still ever so slightly visable tho.

TBH it is only slightly noticable on certain tones of grey backgrounds and most people wouldn't have noticed it since it doesn't show up with other colors.

Ok, it makes sense now that I think about the technologies behind the screens. If that article is anything to gauge by, then your image should fade over time anyway. Using the screen restore utilities for a long period of time probably helps as well.

No problem, its why we're here. :) I help out where ever I think I can and when my computer blows up, I hope someone here will be able to help me too. :P
